On April 11th 2017 the results were announced for the Prix CIRCOM 2017 edition – the best of the programming and skills in regional public service media in Europe.
Denmark, Belgium and the Czech Republic have won two categories each. Serbia, Sweden, Norway, The Netherlands provided the other winners. Commended entries are from France, Spain (2), Sweden, Serbia, UK, Romania, Czech Republic and Croatia.
There are 10 category winners with 160 entries, plus a further number from a special category open only to members of a co-production. The judging was by 14 experienced professionals viewing in Odense, Denmark, as the guests of TV2 Fyn during the past week.
David Lowen, President of Prix CIRCOM, said:
“The judges praised the high quality of entries which they thought stronger than in previous years.”
“There is evidence that regional stations are starting to react better to the demands of their audience and are automatically using relevant content on new delivery systems, trying to reach an audience wherever it can be found. This trend is sure to increase in coming years and the Prix requirements will reflect its importance.”
A new category this year was Entertainment. The Magazine and News Magazine programme award was revised this year to stress audience involvement in creating a news agenda – all part of bringing newsroom and audience closer together and ensuring the news values of the audience impact on news output.
