The Council of Europe and CIRCOM Regional have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the aim of reinforcing the cooperation between the two organisations.
The Council of Europe, which has 47 member countries including Russia and Turkey, works to improve democracy, human rights and the rule of law in Europe, and supports free and independent media across the continent.
Since 2011 the Council has sponsored a prize for investigative journalism in the annual Prix CIRCOM awards.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on November 22 by Daniel Höltgen, Director of Communication of the Council of Europe and Michel Barthen, Deputy Secretary General of Circom Regional.
